About James

James has many years experience as a Law Society Accredited Specialist in Family Law and as such is considered an expert in his field. Specialist Accreditation is a structured peer to peer assessment process enabling legal practitioners to be recognised for their expertise. To be accredited, specialists must pass a series of meticulous assessments on both legal knowledge and its application in practice. To retain their accreditation specialists must undertake significant additional professional development in their area of expertise each year.

James' practice areas are extensive and include property and children's matters, children's care and protection, spousal maintenance, binding financial agreements as well as adoption.

James also practices Criminal Law and regularly appears before a wide variety of Courts and Tribunals seeking justice and truth for his clients.

James is proactive in assisting his clients through the difficulty of family breakdowns. He appreciates the importance of negotiating fair and just settlements, while ensuring the most positive outcome for both parties. James is skilled in devising sensible, practical and reasonable solutions to resolve any dispute.

James is one of the most highly regarded criminal law solicitors in the area and has over 10 years experience. James has handled some of the Central West's more high profile matters and is passionate about attaining justice. 


James holds a Bachelor Degree in both Commerce and Law as well as a Masters in Applied Family Law.

Life outside McIntosh McPhillamy & Co

 James is passionate about supporting the local community and is the Treasurer of Central West Rugby and is the Secretary of the Bathurst Bulldogs Rugby Club. James is married and has a young family.
