BATHURST BULLDOGS RUGBY CLUB

McIntosh McPhillamy & Co is a proud sponsor of the Bathurst Bulldogs Rugby Club, one of the strongest rugby clubs in Central West NSW.

Established in 1874, the Bathurst Bulldogs have a long tradition of success in central west rugby with first grade being Premiers in 2005, Runners Up in 2008 and Semi Finalists in 2006.

Many fine and notable players have played for the Bulldogs including internationals Ron Graham, Marty Roebuck, Matt Stock and Lars Hedburg, as well as former Prime Minister Ben Chifley.

BATHURST EISTEDDFOD

McIntosh McPhillamy & Co is the Honorary Solicitors for the Bathurst Eisteddfod Society and provides sponsorship of the event each year, donating the Encouragement Award for the Junior Piano Solo.

The Bathurst Eisteddfod has been showcasing local talent in the performing arts for more than 60 years.

BATHURST AGRICULTURAL, HORTICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION

The Royal Bathurst Show, held annually at the Bathurst Showground, provides family fun and entertainment and a sample of the region’s rural livestock, produce, arts and crafts.

The Royal Bathurst Show is run by the Bathurst Agricultural, Horticultural and Pastoral Association and is the largest agricultural show in regional NSW.  Further, the show hosts one of the largest equestrian competitions of any agricultural show in Australia and McIntosh McPhillamy & Co proudly sponsors the dressage section.

STUDENT CLERKSHIPS

The firm offers a one year clerkship to a local HSC graduate, providing the unique opportunity for the selected applicant to work closely with a principal of the firm ahead of that student pursuing studies in law at university.

This program sees the student gain a high level of administrative experience as well as an appreciation of the challenges inherent in a legal career.

For further details on this program please contact Paul Crennan.

LEGAL ADVICE CLINIC

Commencing in 1992, the Free Legal Advice Clinic held each Saturday was the first of its kind in NSW.  The Clinic provides direct legal support to the community of this region.  The concept of a free legal advice clinic providing individual confidential advice was pioneered and developed by this firm and it has been so well received that it has been imitated elsewhere.

See Legal Advice Clinic for further information.

SOMERVILLE COLLECTION

The firm was also a major donor in fundraising for the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, assisting in the establishment of the Somerville Collection in the heart of Bathurst.

The internationally renowned Somerville Collection features a ten metre long Tyrannosaurus Rex, the only one in the Australia, and close to 2000 unique fossil and mineral specimens.

LAW SOCIETY MOCK TRIAL

McIntosh McPhillamy & Co is supportive of local high school students through its participation in the Law Society Mock Trial Competition.

Members of the firm provide coaching to students to prepare them to compete against other schools in a simulated court case where they contest a fictional legal matter.

Mock Trial presents the opportunity for high school students to enhance their understanding of the law and legal system and, at the same time, develop their skills in reading, writing, public speaking, and analysis.

GENERAL COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The firm encourages its professionals to take active roles in community organizations.  Members of the firm involve themselves in a wide range of activities from the Rural Fire Service and sporting clubs, to education and the arts.
